My start with 3D Printing firearms...

I’ve watched the 3D Printing thing evolve over the last few years and (finally) decided to get involved last month.

I bought a CREALITY Ender 5 on sale in late November and opened the box to put it together about three weeks ago. I dove deep into online resources and started paying closer attention to the hobbyists & professionals printing guns & gun parts. There is a lot to learn on social media and YouTube... and several people have become great virtual mentors through text and private messenger!
Some of the resources / brands that I suggest checking out for information are DefCAD, Legio, CtrlPew and 2A3DPrint.

In addition to learning the machine itself, I’ve been learning CAD (Fusion 360) and how to use the “slicer” software that prepares instructions for the printer (Cura). I’ve printed files that can be found freely on the internet as well as my own designs that were drawn in CAD by others. I’m probably most proud of the prints that I’ve done from modified files that I changed in CAD... including the two frames you see being shot in this video.

The learning curve is steep, but completely within reach for anyone willing to put a little time into the details of machine set up and software settings. If all you want to do is print existing files (and there are plenty of cool ones for gun owners), it really is surprisingly easy and inexpensive.

Stay tuned for more...
