The last few weeks we brought forward a project that’s been sitting on the to-do list for a few years now. The retro arcade in an old Macintosh Plus from 1986.
The Macintosh Plus was broken and it’s guts was rusting away - but it was nothing a 3D printer and a Raspberry Pi 3 couldn’t fix.
The screen is an 8-inch LCD. The original monitor is 9-inch, but finding a 9-inch LCD monitor was impossible. So we 3D printed a nice matte to perfectly frame the slightly smaller screen in the Macintosh.
I’ve always wanted to try the hydro-dipping technique with spray paint, and thought this project would suit it perfectly.
The arcade stick is from here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2819864
And the buttons/PCB is a Zero Delay USB encoder. There’s plenty on eBay for purchase.
