This review may not show as a "Verified Purchaser" review, as I am a PD engineer at a small business and the printer was actually purchased on Amazon through a company account.
However, I am the primary user of this machine for our business and thought it appropriate that I write this review. We supply aftermarket parts to customers within our industry and bought this printer to create parts for fit checks, initial customer design approvals and functional prototyping.
So far, the parts that we have printed have been good to excellent in quality, resolution and functional capability.

So far, the parts that we have printed have been good to excellent in quality, resolution and functional capability.
The variations that we have witnessed have much more to do with learning to use the machine and software and likely nothing to do with the printer itself.
Early parts were fairly rough, but as I became more familiar with the software and machine, the parts have become increasingly much better and more precise.
I will try to post an image or two at a later date of our non-proprietary products. The main drivers for purchasing this machine over others were:- Great value (cost vs. capability, etc.
)- Large part envelope (many of our parts exceed 10 inches in at least one direction)- Very good to excellent reviews across the board on other Qidi 3D printers (this particular model was too new to offer a statistically significant number of reviews)- Open source material capability and a wide array of usable materials- WiFi / Ethernet capabilityPrinter packaging was excellent, shipment was quick (less than a week), and setup was very straightforward.
Simply follow the included setup guide and supplied videos. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to send an email to Linda and Sophia. Their support is EXCELLENT, and you will have a response the very next morning (due to time zone differences).
Sometimes, when I have sent a question early in the morning (EST), I have had a response back within a few hours.
In retrospect, most of my initial questions were because I did not read the startup manual carefully enough. One thing to note about the XMAX is that it has NO built-in, internal memory (no SD Card).
You will need to plug a flash drive into the USB port to actually print parts, regardless of whether you pull parts from the flash drive or you send parts via WiFi or Ethernet.
This is somewhat implied in the supplied manual. However, I am an engineer. Therefore, sometimes if something is not explicitly spelled out, I may miss it :) The printer comes with a 16 GB flash drive to use for this.
We recently bought a 256 GB drive that we leave plugged into the printer all of the time and just send our files to it via WiFi.With regard to materials, we have mainly been using PLAs for these parts, as this printer sits in my office, and I do not have enough ventilation available to practically allow ABS printing.
However, we may later add ventilation and other materials. I cannot say enough about the SUNLU PLA-Plus material. This is a great PLA material for parts that need extra strength in order to be partially or fully functional.
It has been very easy to use and simply requires following the temperature guidelines from SUNLU. Resulting parts are excellent in quality and definitely stronger than those using standard PLA.
We have been able to prototype functional parts that would otherwise have been machined from aluminum.
Of course they wont take the abuse of the actual aluminum parts, but serve very well for functional and operational check...
