A 3D printer with factory Octoprint integration and a touch screen interface? That’s what Bigtreetech is offering on Kickstarter with the BIQU BX. Should you back it? This video is an honest depiction of my experience testing not one, but two BX machines.

OctoDash is compatible with the BIQU BX. Burn your Octopi image, add your wifi details as normal, edit config.txt with the LCD settings from the bottom of the OctoBTT readme, then follow the OctoDash installation as usual.

These printers were provided free of charge by Bigtreetech for the purposes of testing and making this video. All opinions expressed are my own. Clearly, Bigtreetech sends printers like this to content creators to promote their product but I enjoyed the chance to test and give feedback. At times I was quite forthright with constructive criticism, but BTT were receptive as as a result the final product should be improved.

Some more thoughts:
-The first first was bug ridden and I couldn’t recommend it.
-The updated version was a clear step forward with all bugs fixed. I didn’t experience any issues on this version.
-Print quality is what you would hope. I will put the printer through some calibration to optimise it. If anything, the part cooling fan is the weak link, however the extruder design and breakout board will make this easy to upgrade if necessary.
-OctoBTT looks to be based on OctoDash. Both projects are open source, this is all above board. OctoBTT introduces some new features but is not yet polished. In time it should improve.
-OctoDash is quite polished and a great alternative solution. Check the GitHub wiki to see the options and themes available.
-Assuming the three issues I noted at the end of the video addressed, this would seem to be a really great printer. This is not a review however, my review process is a lot longer and more exhaustive.
-Kickstarter pledges do not guarantee a product, please read here: https://www.kickstarter.com/trust
-Watch as many videos about this as possible from other creators to get a broader picture
