Jonathon Sauer and Fred Sotcher do a clinic on using servos/servo motors in modeling. Servos are exciting as they transform from relatively static motion to controlled motion for animation and other cool uses. It also enables integration with low-cost devices like Arduinos. Fred demonstrates animating objects and carnival rides on his layout and Jonathan shows integrating with his 3D printing for turnout motors.
